Project Description
The project involves the construction and operation of a greenfield refinery in the Ipokia local government area of Ogun state.

The refinery will improve Nigeria’s crude oil refining capacity by 100 000 bbl/d and will process imported crude oil and crude oil bends.

It will also produce bitumen, diesel, grease, heavy fuel oil, jet fuel, kerosene, liquefied petroleum gas, lubricating oil and petrol.

Value
The project is valued at an estimated $1.95-billion.

Duration
Fabrication and construction work for the facility are planned to start in the mid- 2013. Construction is expected to take 24 to 30 months to complete.

Latest Developments
Badagry Petroleum Refinery has signed a joint venture agreement with Singapore-based Eton Finance to build the refinery.

On Budget and on Time?
The project was approved in principle in 1993, but was delayed owing to various interruptions.
